Greatest Living Master of Seon (Zen) Buddhism
Secluded in Korea.
Until now:
Seon (Zen) Master Jinje, the 79th Patriarch in the Korean Seon lineage that traces itself back to the Buddha himself, will travel to the West for the first—and perhaps only—time this September.
We invite you to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Experience in action the most renowned living figure from this vibrant Korean meditative tradition.
Seon (Zen) flourishes on the Korean peninsula, with thousands of monks and nuns following a rigorous schedule of daily meditative practice in hundreds of mountain monasteries. Even so, Korean Seon remains virtually unknown to the American public. For the first time ever, the preeminent figure in the contemporary Seon tradition, Great Seon Master Jinje, will be in New York for a public talk and to offer personal instruction in Ganhwa Seon, the distinctively Korean style of questioning meditation. We invite you to come face-to-face with an enlightened Seon teacher like the ancient masters one only meets in books. Dignitaries and interfaith leaders will gather alongside 100 Korean monks, against a backdrop of traditional pageantry and ceremony, to celebrate this historic event:
